What is The Final Fling? Quite simply, it's the must attend party for photographers!  

It is the beginning of the summer photographic season so we want to help you all to kick it off in style - and we know how much photographers love to party. The Final Fling is your opportunity to get together and socialise with other photographers, network, make new friends, drink, dance and stay up 'til dawn.  

Last year's tour attendees were still hanging out at 8p.m. and Stewart had to wave them goodnight to get his beauty sleep before setting off the next location, however, this year's Final Fling will mean that we can all get our party heads on and dance until we drop.  

We want to make this an annual event, so make sure that you're there for the launch of what will become the photography party of the year!  

Come for the social gathering, stay for the awesome entertainment!  

We have got an exciting and eventful evening planned, so get prepared to be enthralled by:

An Audience with Photographer... Lakshal Perera

We took to our social media sites to find out which amazing and influential photographer you would like to see / hear during our nighttime entertainment.  

Whilst we had a lot of responses, there was an incredible amount of buzz about Lakshal 'Lucky' Perera - an awesome Australian photographer who has a personality just as captivating as his images. When it turned out that Lucky would actually be in the UK at the time of our tour, we knew that booking him for our Final Fling was more than luck!  

Starting out as in Medical Radiation Physics, detouring into playing guitar in a band, and moonlighting as a Slime Volleyball player, Lucky has definitely got an interesting background - and that's even before we get to the photography. Come along to be enthralled and entertained!  

Lucky will be interviewed by writer / editor / photographer supreme Adam Scorey. You may know him as the editor of Professional Photographer, but for our Final Fling Adam will be getting his presenter hat on to find out all about Lucky, what inspires him, and how he does his:  

• Shooting

• Post-production

• Marketing

• Branding

  ...and all about how he took that Milky Way image (check out the slideshow below) Adam will then open the conversation up the the floor so you can find out just how Lucky does it all!

The Photographic Sock Rock... courtesy of Pulp Friction

Yes, you read it right. We could have booked a band the likes of which you have seen before, but we wanted to go for something a little different.

Inspired by Quentin Tarantino: Pulp Friction cover the soundtrack to the classic film - yes, you guessed it - Pulp Fiction. Their set is accompanied by a projection screen showing clips from the film, so you can dance along to the likes of Chuck Berry and challenge John Travolta and Uma Thurman to a twist-off.   No need to be cool - get up and go crazy on the dance floor!  

Despite their love of all things Tarantino, Pulp Friction also play tracks from Queens of the Stone Age to The Kinks - so there should be something for everyone. From cinema inspired songs, to 60's classics, we expect to see you all on the dance floor!  

We will also have a DJ on hand in between sets, so feel free to make requests!  

Matthew's Bros Pyro: Musical Fireworks:

Don't worry... we haven't created a Tarantino inspired version of musical chairs.  

From the brilliant mind that brought you tour footage from last year's Flight of the Folio ... Cris Matthews, one half of Matthews Brothers Pyro, has put together an amazing fireworks show, set to music, to really get the part going and add some magic and sparkle to the evening!  

Everyone at Team Folio have made their [slightly over-ecstatic] requests, from a Folio Albums logo, to a cat, to Gandalf/Weasley Twins style dragons. This will definitely be a captivating firework show to remember!

The Final Fling Food & Drink:

We could have gone all 'Downton style' with a formal meal, but we thought you would rather grab some food, a nice cool drink, and socialise with our tour friends and Final Fling attendees - so we have planned a Hog Roast, with all the trimmings! After all, this is about getting together, having a good time, and meeting lots of new and interesting photographers (much better than a formal soiree... no?)  

If you're not a meat-eater, don't worry, we have a lasagne option available in place of the Hog Roast! (So much better than a Facon roast... right? However - feel free to rock up in Top Hats and Tails if that's your style.)
